Lessons for Evolutionary Theory from My Cousin Vinny: Opinion vs. Fact

I faxed Eugenie C. Scott my Open Letter regarding Ernst Mayr’s first step in natural selection (“everything is a matter of chance”), but I haven’t heard from her. I am not sure of the reason for her lack of response, but I don’t think she can show how such a statement qualifies as science. If she can, I am very receptive.…

The Book Richard Dawkins Doesn't Want You to Read

“Very provocative, erudite, and solidly based on intelligent and logical thinking! Congratulations on making an excellent contribution to understanding the role of a higher intelligence in organizing the affairs of the universe!”

- Pat McGovern, IDG Founder and Chairman, Co-founder of The McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT

Despite various claims by Richard Dawkins and other scientists that Darwinian natural selection has been proven time and again, the… Continue

The "Hidden" Hypothesis Underlying Probability Theory

As Natalie Angier of The New York Times writes in The Canon, "You have, of course, a 50 percent chance of tossing a head (or a tail) with each throw - in other words, a probability of 0.5." The notion that a fair coin has an equal chance of landing heads or tails on the next toss is the foundation of probability theory and the statistical view of the world. Unless you missed the last 50 years in science, you know that randomness and chance are (supposedly) the hallmark of nature… Continue

Hi David,
How did you get the entire idea of a predetermined future?

Well I saw your series for the 3rd time and I got a better understanding of it. It pretty much answered all my questions. If fact it has helped me in a serious manner to accept I could of not done otherwise as far as my past. As far as predicting the future...I don't think we can but maybe the same part of us wanting a freewill is what is trying to create or predict the future. We are trying to be one step ahead of what has already been predetermined & since it's out of our hands.

Wow! Zeitgeist & Zeitgeist Addendum...Ive seen that film myself and I wonder If it will ever happen within my lifetime. It definately has a good message behind the whole resource based economy issue but I don't think corporates can be overpowered right now to accomplish this. It would probally require a serious movement. Peter Joseph is already organizing another (he hopes) huge momement within the couple of years. It's easy to see why this film has attracted the younger generation. I happen to be BiPolar & was in the hospital once where some other sick individual was mentioning this film while he was in a psychotic outbreak. David I have a question. Does Einstein or you explain the GOD does not play dice theory as pretty much saying things happen because nature governs it and wouldn't of had happened any other way? Like me being here typing this. Was it predestined? If thats the case then every single thing we do, like every footstep we do was suppose to happen because of nature. It sounds like an never ending math problem if we view it in a large or micro prespective. If it's viewed as a math problem we can perhaps predict the future. But there would have to be so many variables involved. Correct me if I'm wrong. What are your viewpoints? I'm highly intrigued.

Thanks :) I would be very interested in your response to the zeitgeist movement; the goal of which is essentially to abolish the monetary system in exchange for a resource based economy.

The first video is largely the personal opinions of the founder (Peter Joseph) on religion and sociology, but if you ever get the time I'd encourage you to google "Zeitgeist Addendum" and watch that movie.
